New in 2027: total cost reporting
What your 2027 statement will show, and why nothing on it should surprise you.
Under new Canadian rules known as CRM3, investment dealers began tracking the embedded costs of investment funds on January 1, 2026. Starting in 2027, your annual statement must show what your funds cost you each year, in dollars and as a percentage: management expense ratios (MERs) and trading expense ratios (TERs).
For many investors, it will be the first time they see these costs in dollars. With many mutual funds, the cost of advice has always been inside the fund, so it never appeared as a separate line. We show you our advisory fee and your fund costs, in dollars, before you invest, so your statement simply confirms what you already know.
Not sure what you pay today? Bring your current statement to a complimentary Retirement Clarity Call and we will show you your total cost in dollars.
